Meet the Artist:
Meghan Phelan is a Western New York native with a love for bird watching, drinking tea, daydreaming, and collecting tiny things. She handles everything at Mariposa Miniatures from creating, to photography, to packaging orders (though sometimes gets help making origami boxes from her brother during the busier months).
At age ten she sold her early sculptures under the name "Meg's Minis" at a kids craft market, and has been hooked ever since. Mariposa Miniatures was founded years later in 2012. The name "Mariposa" means "Butterfly" which holds special meaning to Meghan. She is also a fan of alliteration.
Polymer Clay has been her medium of choice since she was young. Each piece is hand sculpted, hand painted, and hand glazed to a glossy sheen. Each and every piece is small enough to fit in the palm of your hand.
Meghan draws inspiration for her pieces from her interpretation of the world around her and her own imagination. She finds minimalism to be her preferred style as it isn't too overwhelming to the senses and is suitable for all ages. Some of her favorite subjects are birds and fantasy creatures.
When Meghan isn't busy with her artwork, she likes to cuddle with her Beagle, Lily, play video games, and write stories.
